S Naval Observatory on July 15th, 1942 as seen on the paper label which is stuck to the inside lid of the wood transit case. The case also has a brass data plate on the exterior that reads that same as the sextant itself which is nicely marked: U. S. Coast Guard, Mark II Number 62, 1942 PIONEER INSTURMENT DIVISION OF BENDIX CORPORATION , BENDIX, NEW JERSEY, U. S. A. TYPE NO. 3050
