This is an absolutely gorgeous example of a leather Militia waist belt and belt plate used during the 1820s & 1830s, around the Seminole & First Indian Wars. This exact style of buckle can be found on Page 110 of ODonnell and Campbells book, American Military Belt Plates, and was in use from roughly 1825 until 1835. This was before the U. S. had any regulation belt model, so the belt here is a fantastic hand made
